SOUND ENVISIONED

In Western North Carolina, it’s not unusual to find a plein air painter who moonlights in a bluegrass trio or a sculptor with more amps than chisels. Sound Envisioned celebrates that creative crossover. Opening May 13 at Art on 7th in Hendersonville, the show features original works by a dozen-plus local artists, all riffing on the theme of sound: a busker’s sax echoing downtown, the sonic boom of a rock show, the meditative hush of mountain wind. According to gallery owner Julie Wilmot, visitors can expect a multisensory exhibit where brushstrokes meet backbeats. “How do you visually interpret music and sound? The creative minds of our gallery artists will dazzle you with their interpretations,” she shares in a press statement. An opening reception is slated for Friday, May 16. The show runs through the end of the month.
