DEI EXHIBITION   JULY 1 THRU 26

7th Avenue District

Fine Art Gallery

Hendersonville's Creative Edge

Welcome

Our Mission & Vision

Since 2021, Art on 7th had been Henderson County’s only exclusively contemporary art gallery.  The gallery featured fine contemporary art by local, national, and international artists.

Hurricane Helene Devastates WNC

In September 2024 Western North Carolina was inundated with record flooding from Hurricane Helene that devastated the region. Our gallery on 7th Avenue in Hendersonville, NC, was set to reopen in early 2025 following a year-long streetscape project that had interrupted our business operations. While frustrating, the delays in construction can be seen as providential in providing us the opportunity to pivot our gallery model to one that now represents exclusively Western North Carolina artists and features a broad variety of styles and mediums in both 2D and 3D fine art and fine craft.

It is our privilege to represent professional artists whose livelihoods were turned upside down by the destruction of the catastrophic weather event of September 2024. In broadening the scope of what the gallery offers and narrowing the geographical range of our artists to Western North Carolina, Art on 7th is dedicated to helping these artists recover and reemerge with new works that will be collected and deeply appreciated for years to come.

Julie & Phil Wilmot – Owners

Meet the Owners ...

Julie and Phil Wilmot opened Art on 7th in the fall of 2021. They had moved to Western North Carolina in 2018 from Dallas, Texas, seeing the area as the perfect place to retire. After three years of “sitting on the back porch,” the couple decided it was time to put down deeper roots, with the goals of connecting to people and contributing to the economic vitality of Hendersonville and its growing reputation as an arts destination.

This venture allowed them to expand their involvement in the local community and assume leadership roles in downtown Hendersonville and 7th Avenue revitalization initiatives, and with non-profits offering cultural and critical need programs to the region. Julie and Phil have always valued the privilege of volunteering and sharing their gifts refined by years of life experiences as parents and professionals.

In June 2024 the Wilmots purchased The Gallery at Flat Rock from Suzanne Camarata, who opened the gallery’s doors in 2015. The purchase allowed her to return to her hometown to be closer to her aging parents and safeguarded the popular gallery to remain open and true to the vision of its founder.

Julie and Phil invite you to visit their galleries, experience the warm hospitality, and take in the visual enchantment of their carefully curated artwork.
