“It’s Only Rock N Roll”
A few years ago some friends decided to form a Rock N Roll Band; drums and three electric guitars. That’s all that is needed to fill entire auditoriums (or garages) with big, irreverent, Cool; guaranteed to deliver a Rock N Roll feeling in your bones. And it was all that was needed to inspire these paintings.
For generations this music, a synthesis of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Country and Folk, has become the sound of America and has spread joyfully around the world, open to anyone and everyone. As the philosopher and musician, Mick Jagger, has said, Its only Rock N Roll, but I like it. With color, contrast and energetic forms these paintings are a reflection of the emotion of this genre of music- from wailing Blues riffs to crooning ballads this is music made to move us. After all, who can sit quietly when good ole Rock n Roll is in the air?
